With increasing numbers of people dependent on home medical equipment, Ohio utility and emergency officials warn that those with special needs must plan ahead for disasters that would leave them without electricity.
The Associated Press reported nationally Monday that better medical treatments over the past decade have helped more critically ill people not only survive but move out of nursing homes. The survey also found that emergency planners are struggling to find new ways to identify those at risk people to ensure they get help during outages.
